Forbes, the world’s biggest business media brand, announced the team from Alpha Alarm, from the popular newsletter on Substack, will be debuting on Forbes. Alpha Alarm provides insights into the world of decentralized finance (DeFi) and Bitcoin markets from three global investors in the crypto-asset space, who are in tune with technology, markets, and social trends.

The Alpha Alarm team consists of Nick Chong, Joseph Young, and Cole Petersen. Nick Chong is an analyst who has worked in the crypto-asset space since 2017, whose writing focuses on the financialization and mainstream adaptation of Bitcoin and decentralized finance. Joseph Young is a financial analyst and investor who has worked in the cryptocurrency and technology sector since 2013. Cole Petersen is a managing partner at a DeFi-focused fund and long-time writer in the crypto space, sharing analyses and thoughts since 2017. Their newsletter will be sent on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

This update comes on the heels of the Forbes ‘Journalist Entrepreneurs’ program, announced earlier this year. In January, Forbes announced this multi-platform initiative that helps writers create deeply engaged communities around their subject-matter expertise and build enduring businesses across Forbes platforms, including premium newsletters. As a continued expansion and investment in the Journalist Entrepreneurs program, Forbes announced the hiring of Kevin Dowd, a new staff writer focused on private equity and M&A.

Kevin previously wrote about the private markets for PitchBook, where he created the Weekend Pitch newsletter. Kevin’s newsletter at Forbes will be called Deal Flow and will be focused on mergers and acquisitions. His first newsletter will debut on April 18, and it will publish five days a week, Sunday through Thursday.

Both the Alpha Alarm newsletter and the Deal Flow newsletter will be part of the Journalist Entrepreneurs initiative, allowing the writers to continue to build their businesses around engaged audiences.

As part of Forbes Journalist Entrepreneurs initiative, to date the following newsletters have already launched from well-known experts in each category:

·        Release Notes, from Dwight Silverman, Staff Writer

·        AppleUnboxed, from David Phelan

·        Midas Touch, from Alex Konrad, Senior Editor, and Rebecca Szkutak, Staff Writer

·        SportsMoney Premium, from Mike Ozanian, Assistant Managing Editor

·        Nitti Gritty Tax, from Tony Nitti, CPA

Next month, Forbes Staff Writer, Chloe Sorvino will be launching her newsletter focused on the food and agriculture industry and entrepreneurs and the big ideas changing the future of food.
