BRF’s Donation to Bruno Born Hospital Strengthens Combat to Covid-19
Health establishment serving the Taquari Valley will receive R $ 1.1 million to be equipped with 6 more respirators, 3 anesthesia machines and 6 ICU beds
BRF, one of the largest food companies in the world, continues to make donations to contribute to actions to combat Covid-19 and its effects on society. In Vale do Taquari (RS), the service will receive the reinforcement of 6 respirators, 3 anesthesia machines and 6 ICU beds, to be acquired by Hospital Bruno Born, in Lajeado, through R $ 1.1 million donated by BRF .
The Sociedade Beneficente e Caridade de Lajeado, maintainer of the hospital, requested a donation to BRF in order to expand the capacity of its service due to the worsening of the pandemic of Covid-19 in the beginning of 2021. In fulfilling the request, BRF emphasized the objective that the equipment helps to save lives and contribute to the fundamental work of the hospital for the entire region of Vale do Taquari.
The donation is part of a set of over R $ 50 million announced by BRF on March 31 to assist in combating the Covid-19 pandemic. The initiative contemplates actions in 15 Brazilian states and in countries where BRF has production units, distribution centers and corporate offices. The company’s objective is to continue efforts to contain the spread of the Coronavirus, contribute to serving the population during the emergency phase and act to combat the effects of the pandemic.
In 2020, the Company had already directed R $ 50 million in donations, which still benefit the population of 175 municipalities spread across the national territory, in addition to countries such as the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, China, Turkey, Singapore, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Oman. In Brazil alone, 1,100 social entities were awarded BRF shares, including through partners. According to the BRF Institute, in total, more than 500 thousand items were donated, including PPE such as masks, gloves and caps for health professionals, in addition to alcohol gel, Covid-19 diagnostic tests, thermometers and hospital equipment.
