National Asbestos Awareness Week is a Reminder that Exposure Hazards Still Exist

EMSL Analytical offers testing services, sampling supplies, test kits, and personal protective equipment to identify asbestos exposure risks.

Cinnaminson, New Jersey – WEBWIRE

The U.S. Senate agreed recently to the passage of a resolution that designates the first week of April in 2021 as “National Asbestos Awareness Week.” The resolution aims to raise public awareness about the prevalence of asbestos-related diseases and the dangers of asbestos exposure, which include lung cancer, mesothelioma, and asbestosis. Senate Resolution 145 reminds the public that asbestos hazards still exist today and urges the Surgeon General to warn and educate people about the public health issue of asbestos exposure.

Environmental professionals and public health advocates who work to protect American workers and the public from the dangers of asbestos exposure applaud the Senate’s actions,” said Joe Frasca, Senior Vice President of Marketing at EMSL Analytical, Inc. “Asbestos-containing materials can still be found on the interior and exterior of countless residential, commercial, and institutional buildings all across the country. As these materials age and become friable, they can become an inhalation hazard. This is also true anytime these materials are disturbed during renovation, remodeling, repair, or demolition activities if the proper safety precautions are not in place.”

Since 1981, the scientific experts at EMSL Analytical, Inc. have been providing testing services to identify environmental, industrial hygiene, and bulk material samples that contain asbestos and many other potential hazards.  Exposure risks to asbestos still exist today due to the once common use of asbestos in building materials and manufacturing. The laboratory services provided are offered to building owners, state, local, and government agencies, workers, and the public, as exposure risks could result in asbestos-related diseases that can take decades to appear.
