A view of cyber security as first aid

But rather than dwelling on cyber risk, Lewis wants to highlight the importance of prevention as well as response.

According to Lewis, “The challenge here is that when it comes to cyber, we can’t just think preventatively. What I can offer is a pragmatic view of how to balance prevention with response.” 

In addition, Lewis outlines a three-step process that demonstrates how to achieve the correct balance and also urges organisations to think of cyber incident response as being first aiders. He explains: “Whilst we take preventative measures as an organisation to make a safe and secure workplace, the reason we have first aiders is because we acknowledge accidents can and do happen.”
