Robert Louis Battle is the current artistic director of America’s Cultural Ambassadors to the World, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. He is a very talented and decorated performer who has won multiple prestigious awards. He also graduated from The Julliard School in 1994 and later on was named as one of the Masters of African American Choreography by the John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts in 2005. About the Author

Dessie Horne Williams is an eighty-one-year-old retired English teacher who plied her trade in the Miami-Dade school system for thirty-two years. A 1957 graduate of Tallahassee’s Florida A&M University, Mrs. Williams is the mother of two adult biological children and one “adopted” son, her cousin Robert Louis Battle. A lover of all things artistic, Williams has devoted much of her life to the pursuit of the joys found in literature, music, and the performing arts, and considers a moment during a sixties Q and A session where her idol Bette Davis answered her question one of the high points of her life. Currently residing in Miami, Florida, Williams is, and has been, for the past fifty years the minister of music at the Wactor Temple African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church.
