Regenerative Farmer and Six-Time CEO Who Led Creation of Intuit’s QuickBooks Joins InnerPlant as Advisor

Veteran tech leader and award-winning farmer, Ridgely Evers, to help guide the company as it expands the development and deployment of its unique living plant sensors that gather data to reduce chemical use and improve crop yields

SAN FRANCISCO and HEALDSBURG, Calif. – WEBWIRE

InnerPlant, the company pioneering the development of living plant sensors, today announces that six-time tech CEO Ridgely Evers is joining the company as an advisor. Evers is currently deeply involved in agriculture heading Captina, a SaaS company serving the wine industry, DaVero Farms & Winery, and AVIVO wines, which he started to take natural wine to the mass market.

Evers cut his teeth at Intuit, which he joined in 1988 to lead the creation of QuickBooks - still the defacto standard for small business. Following Intuit he served as CEO of six technology startups across a number of industries including farming, software, real estate, investment, and consumer products. During the Great Recession, Evers was appointed to President Obama’s Economic Recovery Advisory Board. He has been a hands-on farmer for over 30 years, developing deep expertise in regenerative practices.

“There are few executives who combine Ridgely’s hands-on experience in running technology companies and regenerative farms,” observes Shely Aronov, CEO and co-founder of InnerPlant. “His insight is tremendously valuable to us as we work toward helping farmers boost yields and profits while reducing the environmental impacts of farming.”

At InnerPlant, Evers will advise the company on strategy as it expands the deployment of its living plant sensors across a host of crops from the recently fielded InnerTomato to grapes, corn, and soybeans to name a few.

“InnerPlant’s breakthrough technology makes it one of those rare startups that can truly alter the future,” says Evers. “Large scale farming today requires heavy, prophylactic applications of chemical pesticides and fertilizers, at immense cost to both farmers and the environment. By enabling farmers to act only if and where they must, the real-time data from InnerPlant’s living sensors literally changes everything.”

The addition of Evers as an advisor comes on the heels of InnerPlant’s recent funding partnership with MS&AD Ventures, the fund backed by global insurance conglomerate MS&AD Group Holdings. The investment brings together InnerPlant’s powerful analytical platform and data gleaned directly from individual plant sensors with MS&AD Ventures’ deep risk management and financial experience. The news also clears the way for the joint exploration of data-driven solutions for crop risk management and food supply chains.

About Inner Plant
InnerPlant is the world’s leading developer of genetically adapted living plant sensors. Founded in 2018 by Shely Aronov and Rod Kumimoto, their team of seasoned food entrepreneurs and scientists uses millions of years of Mother Nature’s R&D and a protein extensively studied for safety as a food additive to help plants send signals that farmers can use to boost yields, increase profits, and preserve the environment.
