The Chains of Abuse and the Redeeming Love of the Savior

Restoring the abused

WEBWIRE

Violence and abuse almost always go hand-in-hand. It always finds its way towards the helpless, powerless, and most vulnerable people because these people are defenseless. They can’t fend for themselves and, the more they show fear and hopelessness, the abusers will feed on it and become worse and worse.

Within these criteria are children. Their meekness and innocence are the most precious things in them and, unfortunately, it is what usually gets exploited. In the USA, a child abuse report is made every ten seconds. This is only scratching the surface. If you factor in the unreported cases, it’ll be even more alarming.

Shirley KalpinOlson, a mother, grandmother, nurse, and author, sees these worsening cases of child abuse and exploitation and wanted to raise attention for everyone. Her book “The Truth Shall Set You Free--3rd edition: A young girl living in the life of abuse, flees her abuser in search of her real family and freedom,” is a novel that sheds light on some of the most neglected people; children.

The story follows the life of Tiffany, a girl who suffered physical and sexual abuse from her step-father and his friends. Because of divorce, she was separated from her father and brother. Being abused every day, she one day had enough and decided to run away to look for her brother and freedom.

The book is tastefully written to keep the balance between the lows and highs of life. The conclusion brings about hope and encouragement for everyone who reads it.

Indeed, the book is a reminder for everyone, especially for people suffering from abuse, that God is a present help in times of need. He is a God who restores and can breathe new life to anyone who comes to Him.

Shirley has something important on her heart, which she wants to share with everyone, as she tells how her book, “The Truth Shall Set You Free,” came to be.  One night, 20 years ago Shirley awoke from an overwhelming dream, which, got her up in the middle of the night to write it down. This dream became this book, as she feels strongly for any children who are abused, many of you can relate to this, as you know that we can have a wonderful exciting dream we think we will always remember, but by morning, it is completely lost. The Lord led her to write this dream down because she believes that His plan for it was to help those who may need the message of the truth of Jesus to set them free from their abuse and abusers. Researching and classes on abuse, she came to realize how widespread and staggering the abuse statistics in the United States and its communities are. There is a real need to get this message to the public, to protect these children.
