Book Excellence Awards Brings a Tapestry of Faith and Perseverance from One Woman’s Testimonial Life

About the Author:
Rose Ella Holmes was born on March 24, 1945. She was raised in the low country of Charleston, South Carolina, in the small town of Lincolinville. She is the daughter of Reverend Eddie Sallie Sr. and Mattie Simmons-Sallie. She comes from a large family of thirteen siblings. She attended the local schools in the area and graduated high school in 1964. As a child, she attended a little wooden church called Mt. Zion Baptist Church. While there she sang in the church choir with her mother. In April of 1966, she was joined in holy matrimony to Franklyn Holmes of Summerville, South Carolina. God blessed her with four children from this union: Gwendolyn, Demetrice, Felicia, and Travis.
 
Rose is an evangelist by preaching the word and ministering through spiritual old-fashioned gospel songs. She sings acapella and writes many of the songs she sings. She is an official greeter for Wal-Mart and has a smile for everyone she meets. She resides in Ladson, South Carolina.
