NBPA Foundation Deepens Its Support for Players in 2020

The NBPA Foundation Provided $3.2 Million in Matching
Player Grants during the 2020 Calendar Year

The National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) Foundation is pleased to announce $3.2 million in matching player grants during the 2020 calendar year. During this time period, the NBPA Foundation partnered with 137 current and former players to match their charitable giving and philanthropy while responding to the severe implications of COVID-19 across the world. 

The matching player grants were distributed throughout the calendar year of 2020 to 127 unique organizations and initiatives spanning a broad range of areas including but not limited to:

  • Social Justice 

  • Civic Engagement and Voter Turnout

  • Hunger and Food Security 

  • High School and College Academic Scholarships

  • Access to Sports and Improving Physical Play Spaces 

  • Global Natural Disaster Relief (Australia and Croatia)

  • Support for Remote Learning Programs and Resource Allocation amid the Coronavirus Pandemic  

  • Supporting Frontline Healthcare Workers and providing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
