Selected for the highest rank, “A List”, by the CDP’s climate change questionnaire for the second consecutive year

TOKYO, Japan – WEBWIRE

Nikon Corporation (Nikon) is pleased to announce that it has been selected for the highest rank “A List”*1 by the CDP’s climate change questionnaire for the second consecutive year following last year, recognizing it as one of the highest performing companies in its efforts against climate change and its disclosure.

CDP is a global non-profit that drives companies and governments to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions, safeguard water resources and protect forests. Voted number one climate research provider by investors and working with institutional investors with assets of US$106 trillion, it leverages investor and buyer power to motivate companies to disclose and manage their environmental impacts. Over 9,600 companies with over 50% of global market capitalization disclosed environmental data through CDP in 2020. This is in addition to hundreds of cities, states and regions who disclosed, making CDP’s platform one of the richest sources of information globally on how companies and governments are driving environmental change.

The Nikon Group contributes to building a sustainable society by positioning the realization of a decarbonized society, a resource circulating society, and a healthy and environmentally safe society as the Nikon Group’s Long-Term Environmental Vision. Based on this vision, we have been working to respond to international initiatives, such as setting SBT (Science Based Targets)*2 and implementing various measures to achieve it, as well as disclosing information in accordance with the TCFD (the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures)*3 recommendations. We believe that those efforts led to the honorable evaluation.

Nikon and all companies of its Group will continue to be united as one in tackling climate change.

  • *1Evaluated companies are given one of the following scores: A, A-, B, B-, C, C-, D, D-. Those that didn’t disclose or provide insufficient information are marked with an F. The “A List” is made up of the companies awarded the highest performance rank of “A”.
