“I grew up with a love of history and literature and was fortunate in having early exposure to the complexity of dynastic struggles that occurred in Europe during the Middle Ages. I am hoping that my fascination with the period and with its personalities will arouse a similar curiosity in those who read my books,” said Rogers.

Author Amelia Rogers releases her novel, “A Lady Crowned with Fleurs-de-lys,” which explores the prejudice and discrimination that faced female leaders in the turbulent environment of the Middle Ages.

“A Lady Crowned with Fleurs-de-lys” tells of the life of Queen Isabelle. At first living an idyllic life with her family, the country is suddenly beset by political intrigues and the negative effects of war between France and England. Queen Isabelle plays a crucial role in taking control of the throne when King Charles suffers from a progressive mental illness. But as France is sucked into military disaster, her once respected reputation disintegrates when she falls into a life of pleasure.

“A Lady Crowned with Fleurs-de-lys” is based on considerable historical research. Author Rogers focused on accuracy in depicting characters and events. Readers who enjoy romance and dynastic intrigue will love this novel. It can also appeal to anyone with an interest in the history of Europe during the Middle Ages.

“I grew up with a love of history and literature and was fortunate in having early exposure to the complexity of dynastic struggles that occurred in Europe during the Middle Ages. I am hoping that my fascination with the period and with its personalities will arouse a similar curiosity in those who read my books,” said Rogers.

The book illustrates the role that strong women with strong visions played in this period when so much depended on the actions of dynastic leaders who were influenced by their wives, lovers, and charismatic outsiders such as Joan of Arc. It is a story of power politics, love, and ambition in a time of turmoil and relentless conflict.
