FIFA organises first Pro Bono Counsel Workshop

WEBWIRE

The revised FIFA Disciplinary Code and Code of Ethics entered into force with new features, including the ability for individuals with limited financial means to request legal aid and apply for pro bono counsel to assist them in their defence during proceedings before the relevant FIFA judicial bodies.

As a result, 21 experienced lawyers from around the world were selected for this purpose, and they appear on the list of FIFA pro bono counsel published on 1 November 2019.

In order to welcome the selected pro bono counsel, refresh their knowledge about the procedures before FIFA’s judicial bodies and introduce them to their new role, FIFA is organising the first-ever Pro Bono Counsel Workshop, which will be held online on 26 November 2020.

With 20 lawyers having already confirmed their participation, FIFA’s commitment to holding workshops aimed at sharing knowledge, interacting with stakeholders and promoting transparency is clearly being met with a positive response.
