Bloomberg to Convene Third Annual Sustainable Finance Week

New York – WEBWIRE

Bloomberg will convene the third annual Sustainable Finance Week (SFW) from November 30 till December 4 with five days of events and editorial insights to accelerate the mainstreaming of sustainable finance. This year SFW will take place virtually, allowing it to span key markets and time zones and bring together leaders from the worlds of finance, business, policy and technology and investors from across the globe.

As governments around the world are including “green” measures into their Covid-19 pandemic recovery packages, sustainable finance is becoming increasingly important for business leaders and investors who are looking to create and invest in more sustainable business models, respectively. By 2025, environmental, social and governance (ESG) investments are on track to account for $75 trillion[1], or half of all assets under management. In the last eight years alone, sustainably-managed assets under management have grown from 11% to 30%. During this moment of global volatility, sustainable finance tools are needed more than ever to deploy capital in resilient companies.

Sustainable Finance Week 2020 culminates in four major virtual sustainable finance events with the aim of driving innovation and scaling best practices in sustainable business and finance:

“The rise of ESG investing – driven in recent years by investor demand, increased regulation and reputational risk – is being accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic as companies work to future-proof their strategies and respond to investors’ needs for long-term performance and resilience,” said Patricia Torres, Head of Sustainable Finance Solutions at Bloomberg. “We support our clients in navigating the evolving world of ESG, and Sustainable Finance Week is an important touchpoint to advance conversations on the financial opportunities that come with prioritizing sustainability and, crucially, the risks of being left behind.”

Bloomberg News will publish exclusive editorial content on its Good Business hub for Sustainable Finance Week, including Bloomberg Quicktake articles and a live blog covering the conversations at the Sustainable Business Summit. Additional sustainable finance content will be covered across Bloomberg platforms such as Bloomberg Television, Radio, podcasts, print, digital, and social. Editorial coverage will be supported by insights from Bloomberg Intelligence and BloombergNEF.

Sustainable Finance Week is made possible through collaboration with our partners the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB), Responsible Investor, IR Magazine, BMO, ADM, Ball Corporation, EY, Schroders, and Qatar Foundation. ADM, Ball Corporation, BMO, EY and Schroders are advisors and Qatar Foundation is a participation sponsor of the Bloomberg Sustainable Business Summit Global.

“SASB is proud to participate in the third annual Sustainable Finance Week, especially during this pivotal year in which the world’s largest companies, largest investors, and key regulatory entities acknowledged the need for improved sustainability disclosure, a key means to scaling up sustainable finance,” said Amanda Medress, Global Director of Communications for SASB. “This year, the SASB Symposium will convene international companies, investors, policymakers, advisors, and others to discuss ongoing progress towards a globally-accepted system for sustainability disclosure.”

“Responsible Investor is delighted that the RI Digital: USA 2020 conference, which is free to attend, is a cornerstone of Sustainable Finance Week. This year’s conference strapline is: How ESG is disrupting the US corporate and investment scene. We’re expecting 2,000+ senior investment professionals to participate and get the answers to the questions they have on what this means for day-to-day business,” stated Hugh Wheelan, Co-founder and Managing Director at Responsible Investor.

“We’re pleased once again to be partnering with Sustainable Finance Week this year. What began three years ago as a way to reduce our own footprint and drive forward the ESG movement, has gone from strength-to-strength and continuing the partnership with the ESG Integration Forum during these socially distant times shows the importance of these events,” said Gargi Iyer, Managing Director, Events at IR Magazine & Corporate Secretary.

“We are pleased to be a presenting sponsor of Bloomberg Sustainable Finance Week for the second year in a row. This forum brings corporations, clients and thought leaders together in a critical discussion on sustainable finance — focusing on ideas and innovations that drive environmental and social improvement on a global scale,” said Dan Barclay, CEO and Group Head, BMO Capital Markets. “At BMO we believe our role in creating a more sustainable future lies in helping companies that are creating new solutions in sustainability to access capital, and, in supporting our clients to reach their sustainability objectives.”

Bloomberg provides a number of sustainable finance solutions, offering data-driven insights to help investors integrate ESG throughout the full investment process. This includes ESG scores, solutions to combine and standardize company-reported and third party data, access to news and research content, analytics and research workflows built specifically for investors around ESG.
