LawtechUK Calls on Pioneers to join Lawtech Sandbox Pilot

WEBWIRE

The digital transformation of the legal sector has been brought sharply into focus during the Covid-19 crisis, and it has become more important than ever for lawtech to be pushed forward and supported. In order for this to happen, LawtechUK are initiating a Lawtech Sandbox Pilot, and are inviting technology businesses driving innovation in the legal sector to participate.

The Lawtech Sandbox is an R&D initiative for innovative lawtech, aiming to accelerate digital transformation of the legal sector by providing access to a number of tools, services and people to support the development of game-changing lawtech.

Jenifer Swallow, LawtechUK Director at Tech Nation, comments: “At LawtechUK our purpose is to help transform the legal sector through technology. It is to this end that we have built the Lawtech Sandbox in pilot, and are now delighted to call lawtech pioneers to apply – to work with us and the community as part of the Lawtech Sandbox, in very practical ways, to learn all we can and benefit the businesses and wider society for whom legal services are so fundamental.”

For organisations that join the Pilot, the Sandbox will:

  • Help fast-track the development of ideas, products and services that address the legal needs of businesses and society
  • Gather regulators, government, and experts to support lawtech innovators
  • Offer access to legal datasets, when available, to assist in product development
  • Provide facilitation, commercial and testing support
  • Source and create powerful connections

The Lawtech Sandbox Pilot will see a small, first cohort of organisations gain access to the Lawtech Sandbox for three months as part of a trial that will run between December and March 2021. The Pilot will evaluate the benefit to lawtech innovators of accessing industry-led, government-backed support in this way.

The service is free and organisations ready to test and develop their transformative lawtech idea or product are encouraged to apply.

Who should apply?

The Lawtech Sandbox is open to those innovating in legal services, whose idea, product or service is genuinely innovative and addresses the legal needs of business and or society. It’s relevant for those who would benefit from the support the Lawtech Sandbox offers, to address a  difficult challenge or opportunity, and who are ready to activate and test in the pilot.

Businesses must be based in the UK. Citizen access to justice and overseas-based organisations are outside the scope of the Lawtech Sandbox at this stage.

Startups, scaleups, established tech firms, legal service providers and consortia may apply.

Organisations can apply from now until 12 noon (GMT) on Monday 16 November 2020. The pilot will commence December 2020.
