Champaign, IL – WEBWIRE

CHAMPAIGN, IL - Serra Ventures and gener8tor announced the hiring of Champaign local Jack Marck as the Managing Director of the Illinois AgTech Accelerator. The Illinois AgTech Accelerator will consist of biannual programs: gBETA AgTech and gener8tor AgTech. In this role, Marck will run gBETA AgTech and gener8tor AgTech, two new accelerator programs designed to help agtech startups grow and raise venture capital. Marck’s experience includes product engineer at Agrible, a Serra Ventures’ portfolio company that was acquired in 2018 by Nutrien, the world’s largest fertilizer and ag retail business.

Applications are now open and will close on November 30th. The program will kick-off on January 13th and conclude with a pitch night on March 9th. The pitch night will be part of the annual AgTech Summit. gBETA AgTech will be hosted at the Research Park at the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign. Startups can apply now at www.illinoisagtechaccelerator.com.

Local investors and funders supporting the Illinois AgTech Accelerator include Serra Ventures, Agrifab, Fox Development Corporation, GEM Realty Capital, UI Research Park, U of I, and the Champaign County Economic Development Corporation.

“We are excited to have Jack leading the Illinois AgTech Accelerator. We believe the accelerator will build on an already impressive agtech ecosystem in East Central Illinois. This community effort led by the U of I and local business leaders has worked hard to pull the accelerator together. Jack is a great fit to lead as the first groups of entrepreneurs join the program.” said Dennis Beard, partner at Serra Ventures.
