Havens to Join Panel on Pandemic-Era Campus Design

WEBWIRE

Sasaki principal Greg Havens, AIA, AICP, will speak on a panel hosted by SCUP and The Chronicle of Higher Education. The panel, titled “Safe, Smart Campuses for the Pandemic and Beyond,” will examine how campuses have employed design solutions to adapt to the challenges created by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The discussion will explore questions such as: How can crowd density and flow in living, dining, educational, and research environments be better controlled? How can colleges create adequate quarantine and recovery areas even as they manage hard-hit budgets? Which changes should be thought of as temporary, and which should be considered an opportunity to better campus life and advance environmental goals long-term? Havens will join panelists Shawna Bolin, Associate Vice President of University Planning at Ohio University and Shannon Dowling, Senior Associate at Ayers Saint Gross. The conversation will be moderated by Lee Gardner, Senior Writer for The Chronicle.
