Sheridan, Wyoming, USA – WEBWIRE

Renowned author Clifton K. Meador is pleased to announce the release of his latest book titled, Sketches of a Small Town…Circa 1940…A Memoir,” adding to his esteemed collection of published literature on Amazon.

Unlike any of his previous publications, Sketches of a Small Town…Circa 1940 book charmingly transports the reader on a journey through time as the author reminisces the remarkable experiences of coming to age in a small town in the deep south of Alabama during the 1930s and ’40s. The book balances the lines of humor and heartache while navigating the reader through the realities and complexities of racism, classism, and segregation in a small cotton farming town of Greenville, Alabama.

While the memoir focuses on the author’s adventures navigating boyhood, the storyline seamlessly integrates the lifestyles and tales of those living in the community around him that ultimately shaped the mold and the foundation of who he is today. “Sketches of a Small Town…Circa 1940” is an elegant, yet amusing collection of stories that will engage the reader to rediscover the genuine value of in-person relationships and the significance of time and place in history, whilst depicting the perfect portrait of Meador’s adventurous childhood and adolescence.

According to Harold Chambliss, a freelance writer, humorist, and a former magazine publisher: “‘Sketches of a Small Town…circa 1940,’ not only tells one man’s story, but also beautifully captures the remarkable people, places, and events that characterized a unique lifestyle in a bygone era… What we have here is a poignant, very funny, yet respectful look back at small-town life and characters in the Deep South in the ’30s and ’40s, pre-prosperity, before it was a recognized condition. Meador is a Mark Twain without the river and a Garrison Keillor without the snow… and Baptists instead of Lutherans. I loved this book.”

Clifton K. Meador has been in Medicine since 1951 when he entered Vanderbilt School of Medicine. He has practiced medicine, taught in medical schools, performed research, published scientific papers, and administered clinical and academic programs for over 60 years since he graduated from medical school in 1955. He is the author of sixteen books and over 40 peer reviewed articles in the medical literature. He is retired as Professor of Medicine Emeritus at both Vanderbilt University and Meharry Medical College.

Sketches of a Small Town…Circa 1940 is a perfect and heartwarming ode to the social and economic struggles of growing up during the Great Depression and is the ideal read for those who enjoy the impacts of historical periods and social interaction.
