Valka unveils state-of-the-art frozen fish processing solutions

The High-Speed Portion Grader and Aligner Packing Robot for IQF products feature the intricate design and technical accuracy necessary when producing and shipping high-quality products for retail. 

The High-Speed Portion Grader provides excellent economisation of space, built with up to four lanes capable of simultaneously and automatically sorting products based on weight and dimensions, offering unprecedented per square meter throughput. A soft dropping mechanism at each gate ensures a smooth flow into the buffer, leaving the final product flawless and efficiently packed in any size box. Customisable by design, processors can choose a fully-automated system or the traditional circular feed. 

The Aligner Packing Robot boasts extraordinary features that set it apart from conventional equipment in the frozen fish processing category, providing superior product quality, decreasing waste and meeting the most demanding packing requirements. Using modern robotics that implement a game theory algorithm to each fillet, the system can determine the best solution for the task at hand based on actual fillet weights, thereby reducing overpack and minimal giveaway. The Aligner Packing Robot can grade up to 80 frozen pieces per minute based on length, weight and quality with the utmost accuracy. For fish varying in size from 80 to 800 millimetres in length, the machine weighs, measures, aligns, batches and packs unique quick-frozen (IQF) fillets or portions with a carousel car that gently retrieves filets from the scale and moves them to the appropriate box.
 
Since debuting its water-jet cutting machine at Seafood Expo Global 2014 in Brussels, Belgium, Valka has been focused on increasing its processing presence worldwide. The company contracted with Båtsfjordbruket in September 2019 to provide two complete automated fillet processing lines for whitefish and salmon. It also contracted with Norway’s SalMar in March 2020 to give the seafood supplier with a state-of-the-art salmon grading and packing system.
