Lisa Attenborough appointed as OUP Group Communications Director

We have appointed Lisa Attenborough as OUP’s new Group Communications Director. Lisa will report directly to CEO Nigel Portwood, and will be responsible for corporate reputation, brand, employee engagement, and contributing towards expanding our reach and impact worldwide.

Lisa started her career in marketing agencies before moving to the Financial Times when it was undergoing an international transformation. Since then Lisa has helped to grow the reputations of many organizations globally and locally, such as Siemens, United Biscuits, Marks and Spencer, SABMiller, Mondi, and Premier Foods. Most recently she was the Communications Director at Arla Foods, developing it into a household name. Lisa has also worked extensively for the not-for-profit sector through her charity, education, and sustainability work. She sits on several boards as well as holding a non-executive role for a governance company. 

Speaking about the appointment, Nigel Portwood, OUP’s Chief Executive said: ‘Lisa is a perfect fit for OUP. She has significant experience in running communications teams in large companies with strong brands and reputations. I know she will bring a wealth of knowledge to OUP and play a valuable role in helping us to achieve our long-term ambitions.’

I look forward to bringing my extensive experience in building brands at both a corporate and consumer level to the organization. I can’t wait to start working with my new team and colleagues as well as broadening my perspectives and enjoying new learning opportunities.’

Lisa will join OUP in September 2020.
