SUMEC FIRMAN taps Japanese market

The Container Ship GLORY ZHENDONG left Shanghai port in China with a full load of generators, heading for Tokyo port in Japan on July 19. The generators came from FIRMAN, a generating equipment brand under SUMEC Group, affiliated to Sinomach, and they are the first ones to make forays into the Japanese market.

At the end of 2018, FIRMAN’s Asian division planned to explore the Japanese market and started to connect with IRIS OHYAMA, a Japanese manufacturer of plastic consumer products.

Frequent natural disasters such as earthquakes and typhoons in Japan has resulted in a large market for emergency power generation equipment, so the two sides worked together to develop variable-frequency generators for tiding over a natural disaster, and output the first sample in 2018.

The production part approval process (PPAP) of generators, scheduled for March of this year, was delayed until May due to the novel coronavirus pandemic. After further improvement followed by PPAP and confirmation of final samples, the first FIRMAN generators for customers were produced in July. Follow-up orders are currently flowing into the company.
