Uniper joins ”Komm, mach MINT” initiative – Proportion of women in STEM professions to be further increased

Uniper is committed to equal opportunities and also wants to live up to its social responsibility as an employer – which is why Uniper has now joined the initiative “Komm, mach MINT”. As a permanent partner, the Düsseldorf-based energy company with around 11,500 employees supports young women in getting to know new and exciting opportunities in scientific and technical courses of study and professions.

Uniper’s Chief Operations Officer David Bryson says: ”At Uniper, we know from experience that diverse and mixed teams lead to innovative and creative solutions – and these will also be critical for Uniper to successfully drive our decarbonization strategy, Empower Energy Evolution. The partnership with ”Komm, mach MINT“ is another building block of how Uniper wants to support women and girls in STEM areas and highlight career opportunities. Uniper already has various networks in place to support and facilitate the exchange of experience among women. For example, the ”Women at Uniper“ network already has over 820 members.

The “Girls Day” also plays an important role: Every year, schoolgirls are invited to visit Uniper power plants or the energy trading business, for example, to learn more about the working life and future opportunities at Uniper.

”Komm, mach MINT.” is an initiative supported by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research that promotes young women in mathematics, information technology, natural sciences, and technology (MINT) studies and professions. The aim is to make it easier for women to engage in regular exchanges with other women from the MINT sector, to provide insights into many different companies and sectors, and to leverage the potential of women for scientific and technical professions in view of the looming shortage of skilled workers. ”Komm, mach MINT“ already connects over 340 partners from politics, business, science, social partners, the media, and associations.
