Eric Ribbens Retells Bible Stories to Make a Sense of Familiarity, Authenticity, and Relevance for This Generation

Macomb, Illinois – WEBWIRE

In “Eddies of His Breath: Contemplations of the Word,” Eric Ribbens has rewritten some famous stories in the Bible through a perspective relatable to any Christian.
Eric Ribbens aimed for the Bible, and the foundation of Christian faith, to be familiar, authentic, and relevant for the younger generation and all the people in general, hoping to bring forth in “these pieces of constrained fiction that God loves everyone so much in a new way.” He explored today’s perspectives as he retold the Bible stories, showing how the characters triumphed over their struggles with God by their side. Some of these perspectives included sorrow for Eve, confusion for David, joy for Elizabeth, love for Mary and Joseph, pain for Judas Iscariot and more. In doing so, he had added some events that might have naturally occurred but were skipped in the Bible to heighten the thoughts and emotions of the characters which were closely related to the readers. Along these, discussion questions were also provided after every chapter.
“Eddies of His Breath: Contemplations of the Word” was inspired by Eric Ribbens’ experience as a biology teacher, bridging science and Biblical truths while taking into consideration what students and most people strongly disliked about both the classroom and Christianity: the authoritarian “just-do-this” teachers, irrelevant and inauthentic experience, a crippling mental limitation which made concepts difficult for integration in real day-to-day life. This book will make you think, and give you opportunities for reflection. This book is a good read for Bible study and for the Christians who are looking for a different kind of stimulation to improve their faith.
