Quality sleep critical for good health

The Kaiser Permanente Hawaii Sleep Center at Pearlridge was recently granted accreditation by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. AASM accreditation is the gold standard by which the medical community and public evaluate sleep medicine facilities.

Achieving AASM accreditation demonstrates Kaiser Permanente Sleep Center’s commitment to high-quality, patient-centered care. The sleep center provides a variety of both daytime and nighttime testing to help diagnose and treat sleep disorders and improve the quality of sleep for patients and their loved ones.

“Sleeping well is vital to our mental and physical health,” said Janet Myers, MD, medical director, Kaiser Permanente Hawaii Sleep Center. “This accreditation acknowledges the valuable services we provide, our wonderful team of professionals, and our commitment to helping our patients attain the quality sleep they need to work, play, and thrive.”

The accreditation process involves a rigorous review of the facility’s policies and procedures, prior to an on-site visit and inspection by the AASM that includes interviews with professional and technical staff of the sleep facility. The Kaiser Permanente Sleep Center completed the provisional accreditation process in 2019.
