Stew Sweet, EVP at LendUS, has been recognized by HousingWire as one of their 2020 Rising Stars under the age of 40 in the mortgage, real estate, and fintech industries (https://housingwire.com). Sweet’s nomination originated based on his exceptional career growth and his guidance to the LendUS executive team while staying focused on serving the company’s consumers and originators.
 
Sweet’s career trajectory is highlighted by his quick rise into leadership. He began his career in Mortgage Lending in 2013 as an intern. The following year he became a Jr. LO, then quickly moved to become a Loan Officer, and was awarded the mantle of Branch Manager the subsequent year, at the age of twenty-six. 
 
Current Role
 
In his current role of EVP of Corporate Strategy, Sweet is responsible for advising on the business strategy, long term vision, and identifying growth opportunities for the company while ensuring each boutique brand is aligned for success in their respective markets. He is also a key member of the executive management team, working directly with the CEO to drive impactful corporate initiatives.
 
“Stew is passionate about creating efficiencies while leveraging technology and automation to improve the customer and originator experience. • $200M+ in personal loan fundings
• Closing over $900m in mortgage loans while overseeing the Berkley Branch of RPM Mortgage – by year-end they are slated to have closed over $1B together.

When asked, “What is the one habit that has helped you succeed?” Sweet replied: “I started in the mortgage industry straight out of college, knowing nothing about finance. I learned that life isn’t about what you know—it’s how hard you’re willing to work. Fortunately, I had mentors that showed me the ropes, and taught me that there’s no substitute for hard work.”
