Deploying NYC’s Emergency Supply Chains in the Face of a Pandemic

WEBWIRE

Throughout the COVID crisis, XPO has been working to keep global supply chains moving while partnering with customers and organizations to deliver critical supplies. In New York City, the epicenter of the pandemic in the U.S., the growing impact and spread of the virus prompted us to step into action. We’ve been coordinating with the New York City Emergency Management Department to provide a broad range of logistics support and manage their emergency stockpile program, as we’ve done since 2007 when the program was established.

Our dedicated 24/7 emergency management (EM) response teams jumped right in, serving as a lifeline for the NYC Emergency Management teams on the front lines. We’ve delivered and distributed special medical cots and supplies to the pop-up hospital at the Javits Center, providing delivery of non-perishable food and fresh meals across the city, and transportation and warehousing solutions. We’re also responsible for the emergency distribution of these supplies, which include MRE’s (Meals, Ready-to-Eat) and food supplies, water, medical products, blankets and other essential items. We continue to work closely with NYCEM and adapt to their evolving needs in real-time.

While we aren’t out of the woods yet, the rates of infection in New York are declining. Right now, the most important thing we can do is ensure the safety and health of our employees, partners and the public.

Thank you to the frontline workers and XPO employees who’ve been working tirelessly throughout this crisis. We’re all in this together. #TogetherWeCan
