Citi Launches Worthi—a Free Tool to Enable Skills-Based Job Growth

New York, NY – WEBWIRE

Today Citi launches WorthiSM, a free, online tool that provides market insights and resources for workers to improve their skills in today’s evolving job market. Based on a short, customized questionnaire that identifies skills in demand, the tool helps users find resources for their personalized career goals.

“As millions of Americans find themselves at home contemplating their career and next steps, there has never been a more important time to drive more awareness and provide more resources to skills-based learning,” said Valla Vakili, Managing Director and Head of Citi Ventures Studio. “By providing a tool that gives people a new way to think about the skills they have—and those they might need in the future—we hope to empower them to better navigate the evolving job market.”

Worthi leverages data from Burning Glass Technologies, a leading labor-market analytics firm, to analyze more than 1,800 occupations and 17,000 skills to find the most valuable skills in desired professions. By answering a few questions about work experience, Worthi users receive personalized, market-specific insights to help inform career development. The Worthi tool’s features include:

  • Explore New Roles: Provides insight into existing skills that can be applied to new roles; recommendations for the specific skills needed to transition to new roles; and salary information, demand, average educational experience and top companies hiring for comparable roles
  • Salary Meter: Allows users to compare current salaries with the market average based on location and occupation
  • Grow My Skills: Shows users the top skills in demand for roles and the skills that could increase earning potential
  • Resources: Connects users with free online courses to acquire the career-broadening skills that can help them grow in their current role or transition into something new

“Skills drive the job market,” said Matt Sigelman, CEO of Burning Glass Technologies. “Who gets hired, who stands out, who moves ahead all depend on the skills workers bring with them. The pandemic is accelerating the imperative to have future-ready skills. To prosper during the recovery, workers need to know what skills will get them into their next good job—and how to keep building skills to get the job after that.”

As Citi continues to build out the Worthi tool’s capabilities, the platform will help people understand which of their current skills are transferable, what it might take to make a career change, and which skills to highlight to potential employers.
