The museum announced that ahead of the reopening of the Van Gogh Museum to the public, it would be lending high-quality reproductions of paintings by Vincent van Gogh to fans and visitors. Director Emilie Gordenker personally presented winner Saskia from Bussum with Almond Blossom, hers for the coming two weeks.

Saskia was nominated by her son: ‘Saskia is my mother and, she has been a nurse for exactly 45 years. She has been working on the ICU throughout the pandemic, even though she is in the higher-risk group. She comes home alone, and it would be great to be greeted by a Van Gogh’. The other masterpieces will be delivered today and tomorrow to winners in Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Den Bosch and Goes.

The winners can enjoy their own Van Gogh at home for a fortnight. On the Van Gogh Museum Loans website, nominations are still being accepted for deserving recipients of an almost real painting by the Dutch artist. Nearly 1,000 Dutch Van Gogh fans have already been nominated by a loved one, and they are all in with a chance of winning in the next round. The Van Gogh Museum will soon pick five new winners, and the almost real masterpieces will then travel to their new temporary homes.
