IBI Group’s curbside management experts have mapped the City of Toronto’s recently released CurbTO locations, offering Torontonians easier access to information for these temporary parking and curb lane pedestrian zones. Additionally, IBI has mapped all of the courier and passenger load zones, and delivery vehicle parking for the entire city to help both users and businesses navigate the curbside safely and effectively.

Urban density presents a unique challenge for cities with lockdown restrictions in place as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. To assist its nearly three million residents who have been instructed to observe physical distancing measures, the City of Toronto identified 100 high-traffic locations where curbsides and parking lots could be optimized for improved utility and safety as part of its CurbTO initiative.

IBI Group’s curbside management experts have mapped the initial 10 CurbTO sites, in an effort to make this information more accessible and navigable for Torontonians. Additionally, IBI has mapped all of the courier load zones, passenger load zones, and delivery vehicle parking for the entire city of Toronto, to help both users and businesses navigate the curbside safely and effectively. Using the web-based map with downloadable data for the CurbTO sites, residents can now locate temporary curbside loading zones or expanded pedestrian space near essential businesses, providing ease of access for food, prescriptions, or other basic necessities. Residents can use the map to identify essential businesses that are able to support safe physical distancing practices via curb lane pedestrian zones, established to ensure the necessary distance is maintained between customers in the queue and pedestrians passing by.

With 10 sites already established across Toronto, the City intends to expand CurbTO to include all 100 locations identified, in service of its broader efforts to protect residents and slow the spread of the virus. As more locations come online, IBI will add them to the map in a downloadable format, supporting Torontonians in the safer access to essential supplies during the pandemic.
