"A week ago, we were planning a funeral after 24-days on a ventilator. Today, thanks to amazing medical staff, prayer, and a lot of positive hope and energy from his friends and family, we are working on plans for recovery."

A challenge to do push-ups to help COVID-19 patients push through.

  • Harold Rushton was notorious for doing 50 push-ups a day; beating his kids and grandkids at push-up challenges, even into his 70s. He spent 28-days on a ventilator in Rio Rancho, NM. On April 27th he was taken off the ventilator and now begins the long road to recovery.
  • His nephew challenged all his friends and family to do push-ups to help him and others push-through.

Push-Ups To Push Through is an effort to help engage those under stay-at-home orders and those who know people battling the effects of COVID-19.

The challenge started three weeks ago when Harold Rushton was battling Covid-19, on a ventilator in Rio Rancho, NM. His extended family were on calls every night getting updates, praying and telling stories about him and how he would fight the various effects of the disease, including pneumonia, viral pneumonia and MRSA.

After several difficult and frustrating days of declining reports, Harold’s nephew (Lee Rushton) suggested we all do “push-ups to push through,” since he would always challenge his nieces, nephews and grandkids to push-up challenges.

“The last few weeks have been a roller-coaster ride. A week ago, we were planning a funeral after over 24-days on a ventilator and today, thanks to amazing medical staff, prayer and a lot of positive hope and energy from his friends and family we are working on plans for recovery and a long road of rehabilitation,” says Jeff Rushton, son of Harold Rushton.

We want to thank medical professionals, everywhere, while also giving people something to do to stay healthy, be active, and support their friends, family, and neighbors who are fighting Covid-19.

On Sunday, April 26th Santa Fe (NM) Firefighters Local 2059 challenged everyone to #PushUpsToPushThrough.

Join us in doing Push-ups to help COVID-19 patients push through and as a thank you to the medical professionals who are helping save lives.
