The State Hermitage Museum becomes a partner of the Golden Photon Award

The State Hermitage has become a partner of the Eurasian Golden Photon Award. This is the main prize for this branch of industry, designed to help consumers orientate themselves in the lighting and electrical products market.

The purpose of the award is to identify the best products and projects in the lighting industry and to create a list of reliable manufacturers.

The Golden Photon Lighting and Electrical Engineering Award is beginning its latest season with a new category: within the “Project of the Year” section there will now be laureates and winners in the “Museum Lighting” category. The purpose of the new category is to draw attention to the problem of developing high-quality museum lighting, and also to give added incentive to companies that have contributed to the development of lighting technology for cultural institutions and to identify products intended for use in museums that take account of the specifics of such a lighting environment. The criteria for evaluating museum lighting projects and the rules for selecting the winners in this category have been drawn up jointly by Hermitage staff and the award’s organizers.

The creation of the category was initiated and supported methodologically by the State Hermitage. Mikhail Borisovich Piotrovsky, the museum’s General Director, has joined the award’s organizing committee. The new category is particularly significant not only for the lighting industry, but also for the museum community.

Manufacturers of products and lighting solutions in this field, as well as service providers are invited to participate in the competition for the prize. Applications must be submitted by 30 July 2020. The award ceremony will take place in Moscow on 15 September 2020.
