WATCHMEN and AT THE HEART OF GOLD are among the productions recognized for using television to inspire social change.

MIAMI, FL. – WEBWIRE

The Television Academy has announced its honorees for the 2020 Television Academy Honors, which include two of HBO’s original productions – WATCHMEN and AT THE HEART OF GOLD.  Separate from the Primetime Emmys®, this prestigious award celebrates programming from various genres and across several platforms that generate awareness and educate the audiences.

Below, both productions honored with this distinction:

WATCHMEN

From executive producer Damon Lindelof (Emmy® winner for LOST and HBO’s THE LEFTOVERS), WATCHMEN is set in an alternative reality where masked vigilantes are treated as outlaws. The series embraces the nostalgia of the original comic, while breaking its own paradigms. Nicole Kassell directs the pilot, which was written by Lindelof.

AT THE HEART OF GOLD: INSIDE THE USA GYMNASTICS SCANDAL

This documentary profoundly investigates the sexual abuse scandal that shook the sporting world in 2017. By way of interviews with dozens of victims, coaches, lawyers and journalists, the film exposes an environment in which women spent their youth competing for victory on a world stage, while living through abuse and silence.

Both productions are available on HBO GO.
