Be A Hero. Stay Home, But Stay Connected.

WEBWIRE

#HomePro HEROs

Simply put, we are inspired, and we are in awe of you—the GoPro Community. The resilience, creativity and compassion you’ve shown for our global community warms the heart and evokes an ear-to-ear smile when we need it the most. Since the COVID-19 crisis began, the GoPro Community has been hard at work figuring out how we can make a difference. We launched our #HomePro Challenge to see just how creative people could continue to be under these uncharted stay-at-home restrictions—and we are blown away by the response. We are so grateful to each of you for what you are doing.

Now we have another important request. Right now, we are staying home to do our part and take care of the most vulnerable members of our communities. Staying at home is for the greater good, and it takes real courage to continue to put needs of our global community over our own desires. So, we’re dusting off our original “Be a HERO” tagline to support efforts to encourage us all to stay home. This ideology is more important now than ever, albeit in a new way.

We wouldn’t ask our community to do anything we at GoPro weren’t also practicing. So we’d like to share that since early March, our global teams have been working from home and are finding new ways to connect with each other and to manage remote teams, all while homeschooling kids, learning to cook, navigating new workout regimens, etc.—along with the rest of the world.

We are also tapping into our Corporate Giving Program, GoPro for a Cause, to make an impact where we can.

Giving Back

GoPro has always sought to highlight the work being done to make the world a better place, and in this moment, our mission remains unchanged. We are grateful that we’re able make an impact in a few meaningful ways.

Our WorkPlace Services team keeps a modest load of N95 masks on hand in each of our offices as preparation for emergencies. With our workforce currently dispersed, this team donated the bulk of these masks to local Bay Area and Carlsbad hospitals near GoPro’s U.S. offices to help bridge the gap with continued shortages.

Global Impact, our platform partner for the GoPro for a Cause donation pages, is doing great work to vet organizations and collect contributions that go straight to COVID-19 relief efforts.

We are in the process of donating GoPro cameras through Global Impact to help promote organizations on the front lines of the COVID-19 response and their life-saving work during this pandemic. The cameras will help these organizations tell their stories, raise awareness and inspire vital funds necessary to continue their efforts. Over the coming weeks, we will be highlighting as many of these organizations as we can on GoPro’s news blog, The Inside Line, so keep checking back to see more from these amazing groups!

Last but certainly not least, we are looking to our future—the youth of our nation. Education is paramount, and as educators continue to shift to virtual learning environments, we will be donating GoPro cameras to help expand learning opportunities. Our cameras can empower teachers to record visually stimulating content, by themselves, and quickly edit the footage in the GoPro App. We are starting with schools in New York, Arkansas and California and as we learn best practices, we hope to expand.

We are truly grateful for all who are responding firsthand in this global pandemic—the health-care workers, first responders, teachers and essential merchants—our hearts go out to all who are affected by it. We hope to join these efforts in meaningful, impactful and innovative ways that only GoPro can inspire, achieve and execute. And as we look for ways that we can give back, we urge you, our GoPro Community, to stay strong, stay united, and we will all come out of this better together.
