ASICS Ventures Invests in Y Combinator Backed Health Monitoring Service Provider Pulse Active Stations Network
ASICS Corporation (ASICS) announces that ASICS Ventures Corporation, its investment subsidiary, has invested in Pulse Active Stations Network (“Pulse Active Stations”), a startup that is building a connected network of smart health kiosks across India. Pulse Active Stations is headquartered in Hyderabad, India, and is led by Founder and CEO, Joginder Tanikella.
Much of India’s population does not undergo regular health checks—making it a widespread social issue. Pulse Active Stations is a startup founded in 2018 to help address this issue in India, by placing its proprietary health monitoring system kiosks in railway stations and other public locations, in an effort to change public awareness. This also allows everyone to easily assess the condition of their own health and take informed decisions for theirs and their family’s well-being.
Pulse Active Stations places health monitoring kiosks in public locations that draw large numbers of people, such as railway stations, bus stops, airports, and shopping malls and commercial facilities. Users can measure health data like height, weight, BMI, body composition, blood glucose, blood pressure and other parameters starting at INR 50 (approximately USD 70 cent*) for the basic checkup. The measurements take from 1 to 3 minutes depending on the kind of checkup, and the user receives a printout of the results immediately. The first kiosks were installed in 2018. Currently, Pulse Active Stations are present in 150 locations across 106 cities in India and more than 450,000 health checks have been carried out. Pulse Active plans to expand their presence to 10,000 locations in next 3 years, and become the single point of contact with preventive health & wellness solutions in India. . Pulse Active Stations was selected as part of the prestigious Y Combinator Winter 2019 batch.
In the "Action Plan" of our strategic plan "ASICS Growth Plan (AGP) 2020", we are engaged in "Expansion of growth markets" especially in Southeast Asia, India and the Middle East. ASICS invested in Pulse Active Stations to expand touch points with health-conscious customers in India. ASICS will consider proposals for collaboration in more detail going forward.
ASICS wishes to achieve sustainable growth by focusing on new business development efforts through ASICS Ventures.
