“Then Sings My Soul” is the work of Doreen L. Hatton, a Canadian-born widowed mother, grandma, and great-grandmother who was brought up in a big family Published by Christian Faith Publishing, Doreen’s new novel is a compelling, honest portrayal of heartbreak and the healing process which often only really starts at the moment of reconciliation in cases of tragedy.
On a fateful late night while crossing the street to his home, Lily Langston’s husband, Samuel is struck by a car and killed late. The person behind the wheel, Aaron Turner, a fifteen-year-old boy, has only a learner’s permit and should not have been driving alone, especially at night. Lily and her family are Christians who believe in forgiveness. The family successfully convinces the court to give Aaron probation and community service. Fifteen-year-old Rose, however, cannot forgive and is angry because Aaron doesn’t go to jail or pay for killing her dad. Lily and her girls are talented musicians. They perform often at church and community functions. While dealing with the tragedy of Samuel’s death, it is discovered that Aaron also sings and plays guitar. Together they unfold the gift of forgiveness, and through the power of music, their hearts are healed. This is the story of their journey.

About the Author
Doreen L. Hatton was born and raised in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada. She was one of thirteen children and the sixth and young girl in the family. Her brothers came after her. She was naturally very shy and introverted; however, one night she climbed up on top of a little hill on their property. She was six or seven then. As she looked up into the night sky, she was thrilled by what she saw – billions of twinkling stars, twinkling just for her, she thought. That very moment, she knew God and His Son loved her because they had created all that beauty for her and, yes, for all children like her. The experience led her to know that she is loved not only by her family but also by God and His precious Son.
