Help Karl Crowdfund In-Vitro Fertilization to Start his Family

Karl Arnold, a Northern Virginia IT/telecommunications professional – like many others, has always wanted to be a parent to a healthy baby boy or girl. However, due to multiple layoffs from various jobs it eventually lead to strain the relationship between him and his fiancé. The economic slump of 2009 and 2010 made matters worse for Karl, throwing a wrench in his plans to settle down and have a child.

Unable to find a romantic partner after pursuing various avenues, such as dating websites, Karl decided to give gestational surrogacy a shot to realize his dream of becoming a father.  A delicate part of this process is In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF) which has a 41-43% success rate.  With high hopes, Karl believes that creating and building a family is certainly one of the most crucial things he can do in his life. To do this, he hopes you will help fund the necessary costs to carry out and successfully complete the IVF process. This is why Karl has started a GoFundMe campaign - to help raise the needed funds to undergo the IVF procedures and start a family of his own.

The procedure is used for a number of reasons and can be used for both heterosexual couples facing fertility issues, as well as gay and lesbian couples wanting to start a family.

Other reasons for In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF):

• Blocked or damaged fallopian tubes
• Male factor infertility including decreased sperm count or sperm motility
• Women with ovulation disorders, premature ovarian failure, uterine fibroids

Due to the complexity and delicate nature of IVF, the average cost for this procedure is about $12,000 per cycle.  Add the cost of medications and monitoring and the average total spend is $19,234 which does not include any additional cycles if needed.  This sum is not easy to attain for Karl without calling on the generosity and kindness of people who are willing to help raise the money and make this dream of being a dad come true for him. 

This is a small portion of the total cost for surrogate and Karl does not have the financial resources to bring a child into this world on his own. So, he is asking for some help from his friends and relatives, and the Crowdfund community.
