CHICAGO – WEBWIRE

- Aon placed #71 in the Top 100 Employers list for 2020 as determined by the most inclusive employers in Britain by lesbian, gay, bi and trans equality charity Stonewall

- The firm also earned a perfect score for the 13th consecutive year on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s annual scorecard assessing LGBTQ workplace equality

Aon plc (NYSE:AON), a leading global professional services firm providing a broad range of risk, retirement and health solutions, proudly announced it was named one of the most inclusive employers in the U.K. by lesbian, gay, bi and trans equality charity Stonewall in its Top 100 Employers list for 2020. It was also recently announced that Aon received a score of 100 percent for the 13th consecutive year on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s 2020 Corporate Equality Index (CEI).

“Aon is committed to being a leader in our industry for diversity, equity and inclusion. Having a workplace where each of our colleagues feels valued and open to bring their authentic selves to work is essential to delivering results for our clients and our success as a firm,” said Lisa Stevens, Chief People Officer at Aon. “These awards reflect our ongoing commitment to creating a culture, including programs and resources, that support our LGBTQ colleagues.”

Stonewall names Britain’s Top 100 LGBT-Inclusive Employers

Aon placed 87 on Stonewall’s Top 100 Employers list for 2020 out of 503 employers entering—the largest amount ever. This is the first year Aon made the Top 100 list and highlights the firm’s ongoing work to create a more diverse and inclusive culture for its colleagues.

Stonewall’s Top 100 is known as the definitive list for LGBT+ employers in Britain and is compiled from submissions to the Workplace Equality Index, a powerful benchmarking tool used by employers to assess their achievements and progress on LGBT+ equality in the workplace, as well as their work in the community. Each organization must demonstrate their expertise in 10 areas of employment policy and practice, including networking groups, senior leadership, procurement and how well they’ve engaged with LGBT+ communities.

“The support of our LGBT+ colleagues and the UK’s LGBT+ community is something that has become a part of our culture at every level,” said Katherine Conway, Head of Diversity, Inclusion and Community. “From our senior leaders who lend their voice to the importance of LGBT+ equality, to our colleagues’ work outside Aon to advocate for the LGBT+ community, including our Rainbow Laces campaign to support LGBT+ equality in sport and so much more. This award is great recognition of the work we’ve done and the impact we will continue to have in the future.”

Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s CEI

This is the thirteenth consecutive year Aon’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion earned a place on the 2020 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), the premier benchmarking survey and report in the U.S. measuring policies and practices related to LGBTQ workplace equality. The results of this year’s CEI showcase how Aon and the other U.S.-based companies are not only promoting LGBTQ-friendly workplace policies in the U.S. but helping advance the cause of LGBTQ inclusion in workplaces abroad. The firm’s efforts in satisfying all the CEI’s criteria earned a 100 percent ranking and the designation as a Best Place to Work for LGBTQ Equality. Aon joins the ranks of more than 680 major U.S. businesses that also earned top marks this year.
