Sometimes incidents in our lives turn us into people we were not meant to be.
Sometimes incidents in our lives turn us into people we were not meant to be.

When the word hero comes to mind, we usually think of people in cool costumes with superhuman abilities. Author and teacher Bessie Frazier includes unlikely heroes we all could look up to in her book, “Zero Turned Hero.”
“Zero Turned Hero” presents relatable short stories to those who are going through similar battles in their lives. Frazier’s characters are imperfect, weak at times, normal or ordinary people; yet their situations represents those who choose to rise above their existing circumstances-bullying, struggling families, loneliness and making poor decisions. Through these stories, she hopes everyone will learn to look at themselves as heroes, after they have made an optimistic change-despite their past.
Bessie Frazier’s stories, plays, and songs have been performed in schools, colleges, churches, and special interest groups. She taught in middle schools in Brooklyn, New York, and New Jersey for more than 30 years. Her works are aimed toward encouraging a positive outlook in life. Because of her contributions to literature, she is listed among the outstanding men and women of America in Marquis Who’s Who in the East.
