EMSL Analytical, Inc. is pleased to announce that its Orlando laboratory is now accredited by the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA-LAP, LLC) Industrial Hygiene Laboratory Accreditation Program (IHLAP) for metals in air analysis via inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). EMSL Orlando is in compliance with International Standard ISO/IEC 17025:2017 policies and procedures along with offering high-quality testing services to its clients.

“Exposure to lead can be harmful to people of all ages, but it’s particularly dangerous to the developing brain and nervous system of young children and fetuses,” said Joe Frasca, Senior Vice President of Marketing at EMSL Analytical, Inc. “Lead exposure can occur with no obvious symptoms for some time. The best way to determine if you’re being exposed to lead is to test for it. Our Orlando laboratory continues to work hard to attain new accreditations that will benefit its customers and potential clients.”

EMSL Orlando offers a wide range of testing services in addition to this new accreditation. Under the AIHA-LAP, LLC Environmental Microbiology Laboratory Accreditation Program (EMLAP), the laboratory is accredited for the analysis of bacteria and fungi. EMSL Orlando can also test for lead in paint, soil, settled dust by wipe and airborne samples under the Environmental Lead Laboratory Accreditation Program (ELLAP). The laboratory is an Industrial Hygiene Proficiency Analytical Testing (IHPAT) participant for asbestos and metals testing and certified by the CDC ELITE for Legionella analysis.

In addition, EMSL Orlando is accredited by the National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program (NVLAP) for bulk and airborne asbestos analysis. The laboratory is also accredited by the State of Florida Department of Health, Bureau of Public Health Laboratories and in compliance with the National Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Conference (NELAC) for asbestos, metals, E. coli, total coliforms and Heterotrophic plate count (HPC) testing in drinking water and waste water.
