The Soundtrack For Cornwall

Cornish Composer and professional violinist Sue Aston
Releases her new solo CD ‘Inspirational Journey’

The Cornish landscape has always been a source of inspiration for Cornish composer Sue Aston.

“There is no other place like Cornwall in the whole world - it draws you to it and pulls you in. As a musician, I feel that the spirit of the Cornish landscape communicates through my music” says Sue

’Inspirational Journey’ is Sue’s follow up album to the popular ’Sacred Landscapes’ which continues to sell well around the world

My music has evolved since the first album, which had influences from folk to classical music. ’Inspirational Journey’ is more like a soundtrack for Cornwall, and others have said that it reminds them of the music from ’Lord of the Rings’ or ’American Beauty’.

Each original track sets a scene for a different location in Cornwall. Working with top producer Mark Lane, who has worked on many chill out albums, has produced an album of lyrical melodies with a rich backdrop of local Cornish events (Maypole Dance) and images of the real Cornwall (Sketches of Newlyn)
The CD features 11 original compositions and is available across Cornwall or directly from the Genius Loci website or Sue’s website

Sue Aston graduated from the Birmingham Conservatoire with Distinction (BA Hons), and has played professionally with such orchestras as The D’oyly Carte Opera Company, Orchestra da Camera, and The Corinthian Orchestra. She has worked with Simon Rattle, Nigel Kennedy, Peter Donohoe, Yehudi Menuhin, Sir Charles Groves, and Esa Pekka Salonen, Gordon Giltrap and Chris De Burgh. She also teaches violin across Cornwall has coached the Cornwall Youth Orchestra and runs Cornwall’s premier string trio ‘Classical Strings’ and the St Piran String Quartet.
