Gregory M. McLeod ‘s book “The Apathetical Man” will be exhibited at the 2020 BookExpo New Title Showcase

The book “The Apathetical Man” by Gregory Martin McLeod is not just a story of the author’s recovery from alcoholism and drug abuse and getting his life back on track. It is also above all a story of his spiritual awakening. As much as the book details his downward spiral from alcohol, drugs and other inner demons, it also narrates his journey of newfound faith. The book’s title reflects the former life that the author left behind. He went in and out of rehab and even served jail time. He suffered depression and thought of suicide (but he didn’t want to give up and die that way).
 
“I was dead in sin and was a servant to sin without understanding of the trueness of Life’s purpose,” said McLeod in his book “The Apathetical Man.” “I had numbed myself from Life purpose by alcohol, drugs, pornography and many other sinful natures. The sinful natures became my gods and I was without the Living God. I was worshiping my own self will pleasures and being led by evil spirits without understanding of the consequences.”
 
However, deep inside his heart is the longingness for God – and enduring hope of survival and strength of his salvation. McLeod never gave up on God; he only distanced himself from Him due to his vices. And it is good to know that God didn’t give up on Him. Just like the Prodigal Son, he experienced self-actualization and then embarked on a journey of spiritual awakening.

About the Author
 
Gregory Martin McLeod was born on Christmas Day. At an early age, he abused drugs and alcohol and got into trouble. At 14, he was a full-blown alcoholic and drug user. When he was 16 years old, he was sent off to a psychiatric hospital. He was also diagnosed with bipolar disorder and sought professional help. While working as an electrician for a manufacturing firm, he halted his medical intake but landed back to rehab. He would switch between relapse and remission for some time until a genuine doctor helped him pull through. Through Gregory’s genuine recovery, he realized he needed spiritual healing and returned to his first love—Jesus Christ.
