“In the Shadow of God’s Love” (Christian Faith Publishing; 2018) by Leelia Carolyn Cornell reveals the depth of the author’s relationship with God. It is a collection of poems and stories about God’s presence in everyday life as evident not only in special moments but also in life’s sorrows, trials, triumphs, and even in the most mundane and funniest of life’s events.

“God is a very real, natural part of my life. It is not a religion or a doctrine for me,” the author said of her relationship with God in the foreword of her book. “It’s a personal relationship with my Father, my Beloved, my Kinsman Redeemer, and my Friend.”

In an article she posted on ReadersMagnet Authors’ Lounge website, she added: “‘In the Shadow of God’s Love’ is written from my heart it speaks of my intimate relationship with God, through what one friend described as love letters to God. It comes from all kinds of life situations happy, joyous, sad, funny, and tragic times and my hope in God in all things.”

It was due to the encouragement of her friends that the author was able to publish her book. “I never set out to write a book, although since I was a child, I always wanted to write one. All I did was write one poem at a time and shared it with friends, and then another one and another one. People started to tell me I should publish them.

“Because of their encouragement, this book came to be.”
