There is no such thing as Brexit for Orange Belgium’s customers

WEBWIRE

Today is the day the United Kingdom formally says farewell to the European Union. For Orange Belgium’s customers, though, this major change will have no effect on their bill as they will remain able to roam-like-at-home in the UK, even if it is no longer imposed by the European regulation. And the UK is not the only added roaming territory for Orange Belgium’s customers.

After many months of negotiation – and even if the process is still far from done – the United Kingdom officially leaves the European Union this 31st January. Leaving the EU also means leaving the European regulation on roaming if no commercial agreement is reached between the EU and the UK after the end of the transitory period on 31/12/2020.

So, what can customers expect the next time they use their phone in the UK? If they are Orange Belgium’s customers, well, nothing.

Orange Belgium indeed confirms that its customers will remain able to roam-like-at-home in the UK without any extra charge even after the 31/12/2020 momentum, thanks to specific agreements the operator has with every roaming partner in the United Kingdom.

The United Kingdom (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland) therefore joins a list of other non-EU countries and territories that are included in Orange Belgium’s roam-like-at-home list:

  • Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Cyprus, that are included in the roaming regulation
  • St-Barth, Vatican, San Marino, the Channel Islands (Jersey and Guernsey),  the Isle of Man, and now the UK, thanks to specific arrangements Orange Belgium made.

To be noted, Orange Belgium also offers other competitive solutions, like the Traveller’s pass, for customers roaming in other countries (more information on orange.be/roaming)

Christophe Dujardin, Chief Consumer Officer, comments: “At Orange Belgium, as bold challenger, we find it extremely important to offer our customers peace of mind, not to increase our prices, and to avoid bad surprises. It was therefore key for us to offer customers the guarantee they could still use their phone in the United Kingdom without worrying about a potential bill shock.”
