A Nostalgic Account of One Young Girl’s Childhood Reveals Lessons Worth Learning

Hawaii, United States – WEBWIRE

“California’s Girl, Life on the Beach” is the intimate diary of a young girl growing up on a Southern California beach during the 1960’s and 70’s. Thoroughly captivating, it is told through journal entries, short stories, poetry and associated recollections.

It begins with an idyllic childhood, in the unique beach culture of Southern California. A timeless span of innocence, bursting with youthful immortality and joy, surrounded by sand and sea.

Adolescence arrives during an era of rebellion and social unrest. Through the high school years, lessons are learned and the complexity of life examined. Reality begins to erode the fantasies of childhood. The first kiss, the first heartbreak, the loss of innocence and the emergence of personal identity are seen through a young girl’s eyes.

Tamara Warren’s beautifully written, soul-baring account will resonate with the reader’s own memories. Her honesty is brave and admirable, at once heartwarming and heartbreaking. An exceptional tale written by an extraordinary author, the book’s profound message will touch the reader’s heart.

About the Author

Tamara was born in Southern California and raised on the beach in the 1960’s and 70’s. The eldest of four children, she lived an active life on the beach, in the ocean and camping in the mountains and California desert. She began writing when she was nine years old and has continued to chronicle the joys and sorrows of life to this day.

She moved to Hawaii in 1975, when her beloved home town fell victim to “progress.” She has lived in the rain forest on the slopes of Mauna Loa ever since.

Tamara has one son and spends her free time with her animals, in her gardens and writing. She continued playing competitive volleyball in Hawaii and has padded outrigger canoes since the 1980’s. She has raced across the Molokai Channel four times. She paddles her one-man outrigger canoe regularly, happily sharing the warm, turquoise ocean with the whales, dolphins and manta rays. She returns every summer to her childhood haunt in the California mountains to recharge her soul.

She continues to compile her many years of writing into multiple books. She can be reached on her website, https://www.californiasgirl.com or by email, californiasgirl2018@gmail.com
