Service Connects Autoliv’s 80 Latin American Subsidiaries and Joint Ventures in 30 Countries

San Antonio, Texas, December 18, 2006, São Paulo, Brazil — AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T) announced today that Autoliv Latin America has chosen AT&T to meet its integrated networking requirements throughout the region and to connect to its global corporate network. Autoliv Latin America is part of Autoliv Inc. (NYSE: ALV and SSE: ALIV), a recognized and award-winning producer of safety devices for the automotive industry.

“Autoliv is a vibrant company whose aim is to preserve lives through the use of the most advanced safety technology in the world.” said Silvio Sampaio, IT Manager of Autoliv do Brasil Ltda, “In order to provide our high-quality safety systems, just in time, to almost every auto manufacturer in the world, we needed more than a telecom supplier; we needed a networking partner that would help us make our objective — to create an ultra-available, secure, flexible, cost efficient network — a reality. That partner is AT&T.”

A few years ago Autoliv began its migration towards a converged network that could simplify its network management and rationalize its operating and ownership cost. In addition, it would offer new applications to improve the company’s ability to serve dozens of automotive manufacturers across the five continents and through Autoliv’s 80-plus subsidiaries and joint ventures in more than 30 countries.

Beyond expanding core network functionality, the task required that the entire network architecture be redesigned to become more efficient and flexible while ensuring the security and availability demanded by corporate-critical applications used by almost 40,000 employees. Autoliv selected AT&T from among 30 candidates. AT&T designed, built, and delivered a managed Virtual Private Network (VPN) service, which connects Autoliv’s facilities in Argentina, Brazil, and Mexico with Autoliv’s 80-plus plants and offices, 20 crash centers and 12 technical centers around the world.

The AT&T solution delivered to Autoliv in Latin America is a fully-managed, globally consistent VPN designed to provide the flexibility of any-to-any communications with the reliability, quality and security of a Multi-protocol Label Switched (MPLS) platform-based network that is transport and access type independent. AT&T provides Autoliv with network management and monitoring by global professional teams on 24X7 basis ensuring network reliability and availability.
