Author proposes new approach in interpreting the teachings in the Bible

Christians should be more open to modernistic Biblical interpretations. Science and technology are evolving at an advance rate, which may push many of the faithful to abandon their spiritual beliefs—if teachings aren’t grounded on relevance in this modern time. That is why Dr. Richard Fratianne decides to stir people’s views in Is Heaven a Place?,” his book on spiritual growth and meditation.

In his prologue, he stated that his intention is not to lead people astray from the original interpretations of Bible passages but rather, “this book is written with the hope that it will help re-energize Christians in the practice of our faith. The ideas are meant to stimulate thought, reflection and prayer by all religious leaders and lay persons.”

Even with the controversial ideas, his book still gained a nod from David and Suzanne McClendon, a couple who posted a review in Amazon. The book encouraged them to approach passages in the Bible in a new light, which caused them to have more in-depth discussions and Bible studies.

Kirkus Reviews also said that as the book argues to portray miracles as metaphors rather than mystical events, Fratianne’s work is, “a potentially controversial approach to the Bible.”
