Writing about politics is a task some writers understandably shy away from. Its complex nature is enough for them to avoid it altogether. However, former criminal prosecutor Pete Byer isn’t one of those people. He takes the subject head-on in his debut effort, Executive Target.”
The story follows James Whitcomb, a former marine turned politician who sets his sights on presidency. Three years after winning the nation’s highest position in the White House, he gets entangled in a problem that threatens his post. On top of that crisis, Whitcomb unknowingly has a domestic terrorist group plotting an attack against him.
Byer’s political book is a satirical take on current politics and the mainstream media. He has always found politics interesting, hence his decision to write about it. He has also noticed people’s distrust of media outlets. He decided to bring those two elements together in a satirical but comical fashion.
Readers can pick up the book’s references to current politicians. New Jersey readers will be familiar with many of locations and personalities mentioned in the book. Political junkies will especially appreciate Byer’s intertwining of current and possibly future political events and his references to historical figures.
