Key’s book “Strong Boy, Weak Man” will be exhibited by ReadersMagnet at the 2020 Beijing International Book.

The book tells how far thirteen-year-old Mike, a son of a poor sharecropper in rural Mississippi, can go in life amid adversity and the challenges of the times. The story takes place in the Jim Crow South during the civil rights struggles of the 1960s and 1970s. Mike has big dreams but the obstacles are big too. Yet, his determination is much bigger than the obstacles life may throw at him.

Philip Zozzaro of the independent book review publication Manhattan Book Review gave “Strong Boy, Weak Man” 4 out of 5, saying the book “a moving look at a boy’s transition into manhood.”

“Mike represents the dreamer in many of us and the willingness to buck conventions when failure is not an option,” wrote Zozzaro in his review. “Mike is fallible, but you find yourself rooting for him to succeed in life and love.”
