Anita Legsdin’s food story collection will be served hot at the 2020 Beijing International Book Fair

The said book fair will take place on August 26 – 30, 2020 at the New China International Exhibition Center.
Organized by the state-owned enterprise China National Publications Import & Export (Group) Corporation (CNPIEC), the BIBF is the second-largest book fair in the world and considered by many as one of the top international book fairs. The book fair is committed to the promotion of reading, copyright trading of Chinese and foreign publications and digital media publications, and import and export of physical books, with STEM, academic and children’s titles – in English – at the forefront. The BIBF will hold a publishing forum, an awards show, mini-exhibitions, lectures, seminars, salons, book launches, cultural events, and other fair activities.
Legsdin’s book “Remembrance of Meals Past” will be exhibited by ReadersMagnet at the 2020 Beijing International Book.
“Remembrance of Meals Past” is a collection of stories centered around food and memories associated with various dishes, such as cheesecake, paella, pasta, and Baravikas (an edible mushroom with the scientific name of Boletus edulis).
“The stories in this collection, with a few exceptions, all are based on events from my life,” Legsdin says in the introduction. “Names have been changed, and fictional events added, to conceal and protect identities.
“These stories were all written at different times, without the idea of gathering them into a collection.”

Anita Legsdin learned to cook from her mother, who learned to cook from her mother, who went to cooking school in France and became a professional chef. Of Latvian ancestry, she was indeed raised on Eastern European dishes such as sauerkraut and sausages.
