Don’t miss Glade A. Myler’s poetry book exhibit at the 2020 LA Times Festival of Books.

The poetry book “Through the Eye of the Needle” (Trafford Publishing; 2014) by multilingual poet Glade A. Myler will be exhibited by ReadersMagnet at the 2020 LA Times Festival of Books on October 3 - 4, 2020.

“Through the Eye of the Needle” is an anthology of poems written in Spanish and English, as well as one in Portuguese. Myler first started writing poetry in high school, and then got a little bit serious about it while attending Utah State University. In between, he also served as an LDS missionary among the Hispanics in California, where he picked up Spanish. After retiring from a successful career in law, Myler reinvented himself as a poet. The photographer for this work is Carolyn, the poet’s wife for fifty years. She is an artist in her own right.

Writing poems in multiple languages has placed Myler in a very unique position among most poets in America and perhaps the world. He belongs to a minority of poets who are fluent in more than one language. He speaks English, Spanish, Portuguese and German and can read – but not speak fluently – French and Italian.

“I like to think this is a unique thing because there aren’t many poets – there aren’t any others that I know of – that write in more than one language,” said Myler in an article written by Jeff Hunter for Logan, UT newspaper The Herald-Journal. “If there have been, there haven’t been any that published anything that I know of.”
