Wave Launches the World’s First Multi-Channel Virtual Entertainment Platform for Live Concerts, Enabling Unprecedented Connectivity Between Artists and Fans

Entertainment technology leader extends immersive virtual concerts to the largest audiences ever possible across digital, social and virtual platforms

"Fans become active participants in the concert experience, chatting directly with the artist and each other, cheering and sharing reactions. This two-way dialogue and intimate interaction is what Wave is all about."

Moving beyond the virtual reality (VR) headset, Wave - the entertainment technology company formerly known as TheWaveVR - today announces the launch of the world’s first multi-channel virtual entertainment platform for live concerts. The new Wave experience allows artists to perform live for fans wherever they are, whether in online games, social networks, live-streaming channels or entertainment networks.

“There’s a surge of next-generation viewers flocking to digital channels of all kinds to find engaging entertainment. And gaming, the largest and fastest-growing entertainment category, has become a driving force in music discovery,” said Wave co-founder and CEO Adam Arrigo. “Today, we’re extending the groundbreaking work we’ve done in VR to make virtual concerts more broad-reaching, so that artists can unleash their creativity and reach fans across any digital, social or gaming platform.”

The new Wave harnesses cutting-edge broadcast technology that transforms artists into digital avatars in real-time, casting them onto a virtual stage built with stunning visuals and customized interactions that fit each artist’s unique style. These virtual concerts are distributed via YouTube, Twitch, Facebook, as well as other major digital and gaming channels. Within social channels, the Wave platform integrates chat directly into the experience, allowing fans in the chat to appear as an avatar in the audience and directly impact the artistry within the live performance - an interaction not possible in other live-streamed concerts. Wave’s free-to-play concert experiences allow artists not only to reach global and massively larger audiences than live events, but to monetize new fan bases through the sale of virtual and physical merchandise, bit cheering/tipping and sponsorship.

“The fan engagement is what makes the Wave experience so exciting,” Arrigo said. “Fans become active participants in the concert experience, chatting directly with the artist and each other, cheering and sharing reactions. This two-way dialogue and intimate interaction is what Wave is all about.”

To date, Wave has executed collaborations with The Glitch Mob, Kill the Noise, TOKiMONSTA, Imogen Heap, REZZ, Jean-Michel Jarre and electronic violinist, Lindsey Stirling, among others. The recent Lindsey Stirling Wave attracted more than 400,000 live unique viewers from around the globe. The world-renowned, global touring artist performed live as her avatar via YouTube, where fans chatted with her directly, cheered her on and socialized with each other throughout the concert.
